Every manufacturing plant relies on skilled draftspersons to provide the technical drawings needed to carry out production. Drafting introduces students to the principles, techniques and tools used in technical drawing. Further, the program surveys the career potential and preparation needed for the field of drafting.

Introduction to Drafting discusses the principles and purposes of drafting, gives a brief history of the field, and shows the elements of a blueprint.

Drafting Techniques examines the instruments needed and the techniques used, such as special lines, lettering views, dimensioning, etc. Computerized drafting aids and reproduction methods are discussed.

Careers in Drafting explores the nature of the work in various industries and the skills required for each application. Abilities and educational qualifications are given to assist students in making career plans.
