An Introduction to Office Technology: People and Processes 
Intermediate - Secondary

This program focuses on trends and technologies confronting students entering the job market. Different types of businesses and various job skills are reinforced through the use of role-playing cue cards and an extensive set of student worksheets.

The Business World describes the basic functions of a business office, from purchasing and receiving, to stock-keeping and production and illustrates various work environments and job opportunities from the generalist, "Friday," to the specialist.

Computers and Word Processing highlights the areas of business where computer involvement is common and gives a synopsis of data-processing and word-processing history.

Records Management analyzes the organization and maintenance of filing systems. Records management is portrayed as a field with great potential.

Reception clarifies the roles and goals of a receptionist, both over the telephone and in face-to-face contact. The program demonstrates the duties of a receptionist including: assisting the caller and dealing courteously with the public.

The reproducible worksheets are designed to supplement introductory office procedures and/or communications courses.
