The Art of Manasie Akpaliapik: Inuit Artist
Secondary - Adult ACTION LIVE VIDEO

Manasie is one of Canada's leading Inuit artists. Although he has suffered some tremendous personal tragedies, his art has brought him solace and fame. Manasie makes narrative sculptures, pieces that tell a story and has revived the art of the drum dance. In this video Manasie talks about the meaning of his art and the process of creation. His work is based on Inuit myths, songs and stories and reflect the native ideas of the balance between animal and human life that is necessary for all to survive. Students will find the story fascinating, inspirational and instructive. 24 min.
