Indians
and Inuit
Primary CLASSIC
These
unique and informative programs take an extensive look at the
Native Peoples of North America prior to European exploration and
settlement and chronicle the events that culminated in the Native
Peoples finding themselves a minority group in their own country.
Students are shown the homes, family units, and lifestyle of the
Algonquin, and the Iroquois tribes; the customs and cultures of
the Apache, Navajo, and Pueblo Indians; and the handicrafts and
arts of the Nootka, the Kwakiutl, and the Haida.
The
ways in which the Inuit have maintained a livelihood and culture
for thousands of years, are portrayed. Students become aware of
the challenges faced by the Native People of North America in
preserving their cultural heritage and ethnic identity in a
modern, industrialized society.
