Few Canadian students have had any direct experience with war. Nor have they experienced the impact of war on the soldiers who fight, the families who wait, or the communities that suffer. It is, therefore, difficult to convey the emotions brought by the end of a war and hard to impart, from one generation to another, the feelings surrounding November 11 - Remembrance Day.

This two-part program provides students with a "personal" view of war. The skillful blending of photographs and paintings shows individuals caught up in the maelstrom of war. Through recordings based upon the diaries and letters written by those who were affected by war, students will develop a new awareness of war and its effects - and thus a new appreciation of November 11.
