Grade 7 - Adult

Manasie Akpaliapik is one of Canada's leading Inuit artists. Although he has suffered some tremendous person tragedies, his art has brought him solace and fame. He makes narrative sculptures and has revived the art of the drum dance, also a narrative native art form. His work is based on Inuit myths, songs and stories which reflect the native concern with the balance between the earth and human life that is necessary for all of us to survive.
